I like the year 1970 for the Dead because they took their time and got into the subtle side of their music. The studio albums during the period were so mellow to begin with. Adding ACOUSTIC SETS was a great idea.
Pretty cool that the Acoustic set here opens with a FRIEND OF THE DEVIL with Garcia doing some lyric improving.
Anyone who ever saw JGB play acoustic knows how Jerry just shined in the more intimate acoustic setting.
The Katie Mae is excellent with Pigpen on guitar!
"Katie Mae will RIDE you right"
Sound wise some pops and crackles and stray static but really this is HOT!
If this is a tad slow not sure it matters on the slower tunes?
Historically -this is one month before Kent State and Dead playing a Campus gig recorded down state in NATI.

At last some common sense! China Cat and Rider are not interupted by a track change! Ditto the drums in Good Lovin'.
And most important of all, The Other One is ONE track, not FOUR!

This show has it all
Pigpen just screamed the last "ow" at the end of this show...so I'm clicking on Casey Jones to hear it all over again.
This show has it all - PLUS an acoustic set! I kept thinking about the folks who argue that 1977, or 1987, etc. was their best year. To each his own, but that Black Peter says it all.
And the last four songs, Other One through Lovelight? Maybe nothing "mindblowing", but check out the intensity at the end of Lovelight.

This version is a half-step low/slow
The other version is properly pitched/timed.
